Skagen x kygo smartwatch packaging
In December, 2019, I designed the packaging for a watch designed in collaboration with the famous DJ, Kygo. The packaging reflected a the clean aesthetic of Norwegian design, combined with modern, sleek, high-end, exclusive messaging of the product. As the only packaging designer on this project, I worked closely with the merchandising team, art directors, creative directors, and watch designers to create packaging that not only elevated the product, but also created an experience for the consumer.
A key element to this packaging design was an emphasis on the two components of the box resting at the same height for the consumer’s experience. The Kygo earbuds in their case were significantly thinner than the height of the Skagen x Kygo watch, so careful execution of accurate measurements were essential to make sure the products nested into their custom die-cut molds seamlessly. Sustainability was also key, as Skagen has made a point to emphasize that all packaging is 100% recyclable.
